A clear, standardised record of saphenous reflux
RexVein is a free platform for physicians that structures venous duplex findings, computes the REXI index (Reflux Extension Index) and produces an illustrated patient report.
What it does
12-zone map
Touch-based marking for each limb (right and left), with fixed colours.
REXI 0–3
Computed from the zones with reflux (0; 1–2; 3–5; ≥6). The reflux pattern is described by location: in each trunk the upper half of the zones is proximal and the lower half distal (GSV: G1–G4 proximal, G5–G8 distal; SSV: S1–S2 proximal, S3–S4 distal). Treated saphenous segments are recorded descriptively and flagged with an asterisk.
Patient report (PDF)
One page, plain language, with the coloured map of each limb.
Blinded second reading
A second examiner records the exam without seeing the first reading; a reproducibility page compares readings (same account, patient, limb and date).
CEAP C0–C6
Women and men, with history, additional duplex findings and scores.
Six languages
Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian and German.
Free use and responsibility
RexVein is free for healthcare professionals who hold, for their patients’ data, the authorization or other legal basis required by Brazil’s LGPD or by the data protection law of the country where they practise. The physician is the data controller; RexVein acts as processor. Each physician sees only their own patients. RexVein is not a medical record system: keep each exam in your own record.
To register, create an account at rexvein.com with your professional registration number; accounts are approved manually. For registration outside Brazil, write to contato@rexvein.com.
- RexVein describes findings and does not recommend treatment.
- The REXI was derived in women with CEAP C1–C2 at a single centre, without external validation; elsewhere it is an exploratory descriptor.
- The article was published online in pre-proof form; volume and issue are not yet assigned.
The science
Cross-sectional observational study of 2,276 lower limbs of 1,138 women with CEAP C1 or C2 chronic venous disease from a single phlebology clinic (2019–2023). The REXI is a four-category ordinal index from a 12-zone saphenous duplex protocol. According to the article, it discriminated bilateral C2 from bilateral C1 disease (adjusted AUROC 0.837); among women with bilateral C2, 42.1% had little or no reflux at the saphenous trunks.
